2019 Novel Coronavirus a view from the United Kingdom.
Disease :- coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
Virus :- severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)

We all knew it was coming. We saw that China needed to build a hospital in a week. Yet we ignored it until it started to directly affect us in the west.
A global economy. A passion for travel. Guess how the virus spread. Through the people that travel. Company executives trading on the global stage. Holidays in far flung continents. Air travel.
It couldn't have struck at a worse time for China, just before their New Year celebrations, when people were moving on mass.
China's response was amazing.
The early spring break that took people skiing opened the door into Europe.
Will this jolt to world order be the push we need to put a leash on consumerism?
The rise of the cooperative?
Rise of 'not for profit'?
Controlled globalisation?
Respect for the planet?

Human Greed knows no bounds.
We need to be Pre-emptive NOT reactive.
We need to restrain ourselves.

Chasing continual expansion dreams, when in fact they should settle for sustainability as their target aim.
Don't let us forget the big picture. Global warming. Changing the very planet we live on. This MUST be our focus.
Is this the revenge of the earth, the balance that swings...
Population control, naturally?

Here in the UK, we seem to have planned to keep the level of infection beneath the capability of the NHS.
Unfortunately there is currently no known cure nor treatment for Covid-19 other than attempting to keep the patient breathing long enough for their own immune system to kick in.
This is only a plan in respect that it does keep the NHS from being out of control. If it came to this point the government would be found to be wanting, and social disorder would likely result, but it does not address the nub of the problem. There is no cure. So there was no plan. If we were serious and had actually heeded what was happening in China, we would have locked down straight away, and paid absolute attention to diagnosis, contact tracing and quarantine. We would have minimised death rather than attempted to limit full hospital beds.
Time was wasted. The pandemic took hold in China. We all watched it, yet we did very little until we saw it for our own eyes.
We cannot and MUST not blame China. If it didn't start in one of their markets it could just have easily been any chicken producer in the world, if not covid-19 it could have been a new form of bird flue...one still to come.
All economies lacked investment in their medical facilities, if they are not being regularly used, where is the case for investment?
Lets look at some figures...

Update of the UK status at the end of 2020.
September and all the schools went back. This was a risk for the government. Education had suffered, kids needed to be back in school, but in the balance was the the rest of the nation. Teachers were now in the front line and the kids, though not suffering significantly from the virus, the kids were the spreaders...

Mean while.....

Margaret Keenan became the first patient in the world to receive the Pfizer Covid-19 jab on December 8

But when Christmas was done, the UK second wave was well under way... and data from whole genome sequencing, epidemiology and modelling suggest that a new variant ‘VUI – 202012/01’ (the first Variant Under Investigation in December 2020) transmits more easily than other variants..
